Fistula Care Plus
Lauri Romanzi is board certified in obstetrics and gynecologist with sub-specialty board certification in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). Currently she serves as Project Director of a United States federally funded global women's health project that is slated for completion in 2019. Her 30 year career started with academic faculty appointments at major New York hospitals to the rank of Associate Professor, followed by a 2012 transition to fulltime overseas work in global women's health. Her international experience in Africa and Asia includes clinical and public health program activity in more than 10 countries in the East, Central/Southern and West African regions, and in 4 countries in South Asia.
One of the highlights of the overseas work occurred through appointment as Visiting Associate Professor of Female Pelvic Medicine to Yale University, engaged in fistula and FPMRS capacity building in Rwanda's Human Resources for Health. This work included quality assurance oversight, academic program development in gynecology and urogynecology for the University of Rwanda College of Health Sciences,and development of a central academic and regional district hospital integrated training and care program for fistula and other pelvic floor disorders.
