Mindy Miller

Mindy Miller is a medically based speech-language pathologist, breast cancer survivor and storyteller living in southwest Missouri. Diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2016 at age 29, she underwent chemotherapy, radiation, a unilateral mastectomy and multiple reconstructive surgeries, followed by nearly six years of endocrine therapy to reduce her risk of recurrence. Now in her 11th year of survivorship, Mindy shares her experiences with breast cancer and the realities of life after treatment.

Through personal storytelling and her Instagram community, Mindy aims to leave breadcrumbs of hope across the internet for those newly diagnosed or in their earlier years after a breast cancer diagnosis. She shares the complicated realities of life after cancer alongside the healing, growth and unexpected goodness that can come with it. From navigating the lasting effects of treatment to figuring out who you are and what you want your life to look like in the years that follow, Mindy believes there’s room for the tough things and the hopeful ones, too. By sharing her experiences openly and honestly, she hopes to offer others a glimpse of what’s possible beyond a diagnosis and remind them that their stories are still unfolding, with room for connection and joy along the way.

Mindy is also candid about her evolving relationship with her body after cancer. Happily asymmetrical, she has found confidence in embracing her body as it is, empowered by a mantra that has become integral to her healing: “I am safe in my body.”

Mindy’s writing has appeared in national publications and she continues to share her perspective on young-onset breast cancer, cancer survivorship and women’s health through her writing and online presence.

Outside of her professional life, Mindy enjoys running, spending time in the sunshine, and life on the Missouri farm she shares with her husband and their animals.
