Q:

Who is at risk for multiple sclerosis (MS)?

A:

Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects two to three times as many women as men. It develops more often in Caucasians than in other races and affects approximately 400,000 people in the United States. MS is not an inherited disease, but genes likely play a role. There is a higher risk for MS in families where it has already occurred.
