Maurice Nahabedian, MD is currently in private practice at the National Center for Plastic Surgery in McLean Virginia and also a Professor of Plastic Surgery at the VCU college of medicine - Inova Branch. Dr. Nahabedian completed his General Surgery residency at the University of California Irvine and his Plastic Surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was on the faculty at Johns Hopkins from 1996 – 2005 and at Georgetown University from 2005 - 2017. His primary areas of interest include aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. He has performed over 2,000 breast reconstructions using flaps, over 1500 reconstructions using prosthetic devices and over 150 abdominal wall reconstructions. He has been chairman of the multiple national conferences that include the Santa Fe Breast and Body Contouring Symposium, Challenging Complications in Plastic Surgery: Successful Management Strategies Symposium, Aesthetica, BC3, and the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Symposium. He has published over 200 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and discussions, 93 chapters, and been the principal or co-editor of 10textbooks. Dr. Nahabedian was the Breast Section Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2009 - 2017 and serves on the editorial boards of 4 other plastic surgery journals. Dr. Nahabedian is certified by and a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as holding memberships in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and American Association of Plastic Surgeons.
