Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common disorder caused by an overgrowth of the fungal species Candida. Nearly 75% of all adult women have had at least one yeast infection in their lifetime. While the majority of these infections can be effectively managed with approved therapies, such as Fluconazole, approximately half of these women experience a recurrence, with 6 to 9% developing recurrent VVC, defined as three or more episodes in one year.
