D. Lawrence Wickerham, MD
D. Lawrence Wickerham, MD, is the Associate Chairman of the NSABP and the NSABP Project Officer for the P-1 and STAR Breast Cancer Prevention Trials.
Dr. Wickerham is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Oncology at the Pittsburgh Campus of Drexel University School of Medicine and is affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA., where he is the Chief of the Section of Cancer Genetics and Prevention. For the past 15 years Dr. Wickerham's major research focus has been on the chemoprevention of breast and bowel cancer. A component of that effort has been evaluation of methods to monitor and improve adherence with oral oncology therapies.
Dr. Wickerham has been the recipient of several awards, the most recent being the Potamkin Award (October 2006) presented to him by the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition for his outstanding work in breast cancer research.
Dr. Wickerham is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA, and received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh where he also received his post-graduate training in surgery.
