Alison West, PhD, ERYT

Alison West, PhD, ERYT, founder of Yoga Union and cofounder of the Yoga Union Center for Backcare & Scoliosis, is known for her dynamic, precise instruction and searching analysis of poses, founded in a long, but not exclusive, study of Iyengar yoga. Alison conducts "gold standard" (TONY 2007) biannual teacher training, as well as an annual advanced teacher training. Her trail-blazing urban teacher training intensives are highly esteemed for their emphasis on teaching practice and anatomy, their ecumenical spirit and rigorous, rounded programs. In addition, she holds ongoing yoga classes and one-on-one instruction in New York City. Her yoga therapy specialties include yoga for back care and scoliosis, as well as yoga for anxiety, depression, asthma and diabetes. She teaches back care and wall-rope certification programs in addition to the 200- and 300-hour teacher trainings.
