The other day, I shared some information on a new study that disproves the old notion that women who have had breast surgery cannot lift anything heavy for fear of developing lymphedema in their arm. If you're one of the many women who has had surgery for breast cancer, you may be interested in knowing more.

In Tuesday's Science Times, Tara Parker-Pope writes about the same study and shares some valuable information about centers that offer the weight-lifting program used in the study. Although I guided my own weight-lifting program, there are women who might not be as experienced with exercise as I was, so it's a good idea to check into the many available resources out there; either customized programs or a personal trainer who is certified in cancer exercise from the American College of Sports Medicine.
