Help for the Tech-Challenged

Since we're on the subject of technology, I'd like to share a tip I learned from my son. It came in handy when I was faced with a non-responsive I-Pod (my constant companion at the gym). And coincidentally, when my sister needed advice for the very same problem, I was her hero...I knew what to tell her.

First, make sure the "hold" button is not on. (Yes, that might be obvious, but sometimes you might not realize that it's activated). Then, try toggling that switch on and off, and then hold down the menu and center buttons at the same time for about six to eight seconds. Usually, that does the trick: the Apple logo will appear in the window. Good Housekeeping offers some solutions for common technology problems. With some reading and a little practice, you'll soon be able to offer the advice to someone else!
