The New York Times Travel Show entices baby boomers, millennials and others to travel, both within the United States and abroad.

From my visit to The New York Times Travel Show held at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City in January, it's clear that boomers are a prime audience for many destinations. From Costa Rica to California, from Florida to the Philippines, from Morocco to Martinique, and everywhere else you can take a plane, ship, train or drive to visit, the post-50 market is on the move—and so are their millennial children.

Do you love the taste of salty foods? Use your saltshaker with abandon? Maybe it's time to think about shaking that habit.

February is American Heart Month, so I thought I would remind you to take care of your heart. This is especially important for women our age.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), heart disease and stroke kill 1 in 3 women—more than all cancers combined. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

If your mom or dad can no longer care for all his or her needs, it may be time to explore the many options for in-home care.

By Tracy Layden

Mom was always there for you. Even after you moved out, you turned to her for comfort, support and advice. But now that you're both older, she's started to need more of your help.

It's hard to acknowledge that Mom is no longer able to properly take care of herself. Even harder? Realizing you can no longer help her on your own.

Moving Mom (or Dad) to a nursing home doesn't have to be the next step. There are many options for in-home care that extend your parents' time in their own house.

As a former New Yorker, I love exploring new cities when I travel. That's why I so enjoyed my first visit to St. Petersburg, Florida. St. Petersburg has the best of both worlds—the beautiful beaches on the Gulf Coast and a vibrant downtown that's filled with great restaurants, shops and cultural destinations.

If I ever decide to spend my life after 50 winters in a warmer climate, I could definitely see living in St. Petersburg or a Florida city nearby.

"Let's take a trip to Venice Beach, California," I said to my daughter A. I love California and wanted to visit my BFF R out there.

I boarded the plane in Philadelphia one early morning in November and was glad to be heading to a warm, sunny place to drown out my post-election blues. My daughter A met me from New York City, and the two of us embarked on a six-day escape for sun and fun.

Before we're too far removed from 2016, I want to honor some of the talented speakers from the 2016 Pennsylvania Conference for Women. I'd like to share a few quotes that resonated with me from that day. Maybe they will prompt you to think or act differently in 2017.

Nearly 9,000 women attended the 13th annual conference in October. The theme was "The Power of Us: Amplify Your Voice."

I'm delighted to share her answers to my questions, and I hope you find Lorraine's advice helpful.
