Dare to Be Aware

Dare to Be Aware
Author: National Women's Health Resource Center
Published by: National Women's Health Resource Center, Inc., March 2006

Co-sponsored by the National Women's Health Resource Center and the Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI), the Dare to Be Aware educational initiative challenges women of all ages, races and ethnicities to become educated about colon cancer and take steps to prevent or treat it. Dare to Be Aware empowers women to face their fears and fight against a disease that is highly treatable if diagnosed early, but too often is not.

This brochure includes myths & facts, screening and treatment information and nutrition guidelines. Special attention is paid to the needs of African-American women, who are at greatest risk of getting and dying from colorectal cancer.

Dare to Be Aware is made possible with support from Roche.
