FRIA (Friends and Relatives of Institutionalized Aged)

FRIA's (Friends and Relatives of Institutionalized Aged) mission is to improve the quality of long-term care in New York, with a special focus on nursing home residents, and assure that all seniors receive prompt, high quality and compassionate care. We seek to accomplish this by helping friends and relatives become more informed and effective caregivers for the needs of their loved ones. FRIA's main tools are its free telephone helpline, advocacy on individual complaints and policy issues, organizing and assisting family councils within nursing homes, consumer educational publications, and presentations and workshops for family members, community groups and professionals.
