Skip the Eggs; Bring in the Caterpillars

One of the biggest disadvantages of today's flu vaccine is that it must be grown in chicken eggs—a complex, lengthy process that also makes it impossible for anyone allergic to eggs to get vaccinated. That might be a thing of the past however, as Rochester, NY, researchers report on their efforts to grow the vaccine in insect cells.
