More than 3.2 million American older women have chronic dry eye--a condition that leaves your eyes dry and irritated and your vision blurred and compromised. Though the cause of chronic dry eye isn't known for certain, researchers suspect declining hormone levels at menopause is a major reason for the condition. Treatment is available. It's important to have your eyes examined by an eye specialist and to rule out any other conditions with similar symptoms.
