Obstructive Sleep Apnea Experts

There are a number of health care professionals and related experts who can diagnose, treat and help manage OSA. Usually, patients are first evaluated by their primary care provider. If he or she suspects that you have OSA or another sleep disorder, you may be referred to one of the following specialists in sleep medicine:

  • Pulmonologists: doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions and diseases
  • Neurologists: doctors who diagnose and treat nervous system disorders, including diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles
  • Psychiatrists: mental health professionals
  • Otolaryngologists: ear, nose and throat doctors to rule out any blockage in your nose or throat

A complete listing of physicians who are board certified in sleep medicine may be found at: www.absm.org.
