Questions to Ask Your Health Care Professional

 

Most of us have a tendency to forget a few important questions we wanted to ask our health care professionals during office visits. Below are some lists of questions related to heart health that you might find helpful to look over and maybe even print out to take with you to your next appointment:

Review the following 'Questions to Ask' about stroke so you're prepared to discuss this important health issue with your health care professional.

1. Do I have a family history that may put me at higher risk for stroke in the future?

2. Do I have any of the risk factors for stroke?

3. What can I do to reduce my risk for stroke?

4. What are healthy dietary habits for stroke prevention? Should I be taking vitamin or mineral supplements?

5. What can I do to lower my blood pressure?

6. Can medication lower my risk for stroke or other cardiovascular problems?

7. Should I be taking an aspirin?

8. What experience do you have treating stroke patients -- or those at risk for stroke?

9. Am I eligible to participate in any clinical trials?

10. I had a "mini-stroke." What do I do now?

11. How can family assist with the stroke recovery?

12. I'm pregnant and my blood pressure is higher than normal. Am I going to have a stroke?

13. Do I have atrial fibrillation, and how do I test my pulse for the development of this condition?
