Although a vaccine for immunization against trichomoniasis has been marketed in Europe, it has not been proven effective, and there is no vaccine approved in the United States. Prevention, therefore, is similar to that for other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Protective measures include:

  • Use a latex condom every time you have sex.

  • Limit your number of sex partners.

  • Get tested if you think you have an STD and have your partner tested, too.
