- Sjögren's syndrome
- A chronic, incurable disorder in which immune-system cells attack and destroy the glands that produce tears and saliva. The syndrome is named after Swedish ophthalmologist Henrik Sjögren. Sjögren's syndrome may occur alone (primary Sjögren's syndrome), or may be associated with other autoimmune/rheumatic diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.
