Methotrexate: This folic acid inhibitor suppresses the immune system and is commonly prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis. It can also be used to treat patients who have Sjögren's syndrome with internal organ involvement. Side effects include upset stomach, potential liver problems and low white blood cell count.
