Insulin sensitizer: A new class of drugs that improves the body's ability to use insulin and reduce blood levels of insulin. Drugs in this class include metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos) and rosiglitazone (Avandia). Since high levels of insulin stimulate testosterone production, these drugs may be effective in treating polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) symptoms, including infertility.
