Anovulation: When your ovaries don't release an egg and you don't ovulate. It's one of the most common hormone-related problems causing abnormal uterine bleeding and can result in the production of too much androgen, which is a male hormone. When this happens, your ovaries may develop many cysts, a condition known as polycystic ovarian disease.
