Jerilyn Ross, MA, LICSW

Jerilyn Ross is one of the nation's leading experts on anxiety disorders. An active psychotherapist, patient advocate and author, Ross is Director of The Ross Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (www.rosscenter.com), an outpatient multidisciplinary treatment center in Washington, DC, and President and CEO of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (www.adaa.org), the only national nonprofit organization solely dedicated to promoting the prevention and cure of anxiety disorders and to improving the lives of all who suffer from them.

Ross received her graduate training in psychology from the New School for Social Research Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science in New York City, and began her clinical practice and public advocacy activities in 1978. Since then she has appeared on more than 100 radio and television shows, including "Nightline," "Oprah Winfrey," "The Today Show," and CNN. From 1987 to 1992, she hosted her own weekly, award winning, talk show on WRC Radio in Washington, DC

Ross is the author of the best selling book, Triumph Over Fear, as well as the comprehensive audio/tape program, "Freedom From Anxiety" (www.nightingale.com). Professional publications include chapters and articles in the American Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, and several textbooks. She has been the subject of feature profiles in the Washington Post Magazine, Biography Magazine, and TEN, and is frequently quoted in such publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek.

Honors include the 1994 Distinguished Humanitarian Award from the American Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology, the 2001 Anxiety Initiative Award from the World Council on Anxiety and the World Psychiatric Association, and a 2000 Telly Award. In 2001, Ross was granted Diplomate Status in the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling and Psychotherapy.
