Julie Johnson Staples

Julie Johnson Staples is a Managing Director of Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm based in New York. Ms. Johnson Staples is responsible for the firm's global marketing and strategic communications activities and assists companies across the Warburg Pincus portfolio. The firm, which has been a leading private equity investor since 1971, has nine offices around the world. It has invested more than $29 billion in 585 companies in 30 countries across a range of sectors including healthcare, energy, consumer and retail, financial services, technology, media and telecommunications and real estate. The firm has invested more than $6 billion globally in healthcare-related companies.

Prior to joining Warburg Pincus, Ms. Johnson Staples was an Executive Managing Director and Director of Hill and Knowlton's U.S. Media practice. In this role, she provided senior strategic and tactical counsel to clients seeking issues management and media relations support for international mergers, marketing and corporate communications, product launches and litigation support.

Previously, Ms. Johnson Staples was a correspondent for ABC News and TIME Magazine. In addition to covering law and politics, Ms. Johnson Staples has twice worked as a White House Correspondent, covering the Reagan Administration for The New York Times and for The Baltimore Sun.

Ms. Johnson Staples earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she is an emeritus member of the board of visitors. She completed her undergraduate degree in journalism at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Public Information at the University of Kansas. She is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Women's Health Resource Center, and is a former visiting professor in the School of Communication, Information and Library Studies at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
